In the Spotlight (CWN Macon)

Our November Spotlight falls on Stephanie Dodson, Vice President of Lighthouse Nursing Agency.  Stephanie has been a part of this agency since 2003 and VP since 2015.  She has done everything from accounting to all things HR related, to staffing and everything in between.

"I oversee day to day operations, develop functional roles and assign responsibilities for all 25 in house employees. My day usually starts out in our recruiting department, inspiring and motivating the team. From there, I'm putting out any fires in our staffing department while enlisting creative ways to staff our medical professionals, conducting follow-up with clients to ensure quality control to better serve our clients, and spearheading all things sales and marketing related. My company, Lighthouse Nursing Agency is a supplemental staffing agency that supplies medical professionals including LPN’s, RN’s & APRN’s to any and all medical facilities throughout the state including hospitals, hospice, crisis units and nursing homes, to name a few." Stephanie shares.

Stephanie says, "My job is definitely fulfilling in that I am daily a part of providing our communities the medical care and coverage they need. It makes a difference when I can assist new nurses in getting the experience they need for their portfolios in order to go on to bigger and better things, help that new mom not wanting full time hours still get some hours of work throughout the week or the DON who has worked five 12-hour shifts get a break by finding her an RN to help support her role.

Stephanie's aspiration is to continue to provide for the needs of the community in hopes that everyone gets the care they need. Also, to continue to flourish and provide jobs for people in Middle GA. She says her greatest accomplishment is, "being the best mom I can be for my daughter as well as being a part of Lighthouse Nursing Agency since the very beginning. Having a job that enables me to prosper personally while actually helping the community is very fulfilling."

Stephanie is originally from North Carolina. She moved to Middle Georgia in 2000 and has resided in Macon since 2003. Her husband is a Macon native and owns his own business, Dodson Landscapes. They have a beautiful daughter. Stephanie enjoys family trips to the mountains and the beach. She loves the outdoors and Georgia football. She says, "I enjoy being the matriarch of our family, from traditions to planning anything that brings us together; that applies to my Lighthouse family as well."

When asked if she had any interesting stories to share about CWN, Stephanie replied, "CWN member, Elaine Pritchard, VP of Donaldson Garret and Associates came with her husband who is on the Board with Lighthouse’s first client to the GACSB Annual Educational Exchange where we got to know one another. She invited me to the December CWN meeting and I was intrigued by being among some of the most powerful and influential women of Middle Georgia. It is an honor to be part of such a strong and supportive group of women."

When asked if she were mentoring someone, what would be the most important advice she would give them regarding achieving professional success, Stephanie replied, "Keep God first, keep your eye on the goal. Business is all about relationships, both professional and personal. Anything is attainable when you stay focused and motivated. Know where you’re going and never forget where you have come from."
